Almond protein
Today we would like to talk about a product that is still not very popular but whose consumption is increasing significantly.
This product is defatted almond flour, also known as almond protein, obtained by a cold-pressing process of peeled almonds. With this procedure what is achieved is to remove almost all the fat contained in the almond, obtaining on the one hand the almond oil and on the other hand, a kind of paste or almond cake.
It is through the sieving of this almond paste or cake that we obtain what we call defatted almond flour or almond protein.
This defatted flour has numerous health benefits, mainly due to its high protein (50-55g per 100g) and fiber content and its low fat content, which makes it a very popular product among athletes.
It is usually presented in powder form and its consumption consists of adding one or several tablespoons (approximately 20g) to a drink that can be a smoothie, juice, yogurt, water, etc. and thus enhance its effect. It is a dietary supplement.
Although it is true, its use has also been extended in cooking and it is widely used in the preparation of desserts and even in other savory dishes.
This product is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. And as if all this were not enough, almond protein, in addition to the conventional form, can also be found in the organic range, making this a healthier product if possible.
